The Home & School Association is governed by a board of elected parent volunteers and includes at-large members supporting a variety of Home & School functions. Meetings are held once monthly, and all parents are invited to attend. In addition, we bring in guest speakers several times a year to discuss issues affecting our school and our children. Past topics have included topics such as internet safety and deep dives into extracurricular curriculum.
The Home & School Association also oversees three major fundraisers each year, which help fund activities, such as Field Day, the Halloween Dance and Catholic Schools Week, and also provides financial support to help enhance the school, including technology upgrades, facilities improvements and special event support.
Families are required to participate in Scrip, a gift card program that kicks back a percentage of each purchase back to the school while also providing a deduction on tuition costs. A true win-win that ultimately costs you nothing!
In September, we hold our annual magazine sale. Students sell magazine subscriptions, food items and other goods to raise money for the school. Students with the highest sales are awarded special gifts at our annual Prize Fest.
Teams of adults compete in a challenging game, held in early March in the school gym. Raffles, a silent auction, food and drinks make this a can’t-miss event. And don’t forget, there’s a prize for the best costume, too!
St. Dennis School is known for its many traditions that bring our students and families together for enrichment and fun.
Funds raised by the Home & School Association support the following events:
In addition to our annual events, Home & School supports many efforts that help make our school stronger. In the past, our grant program has contributed to school counselor fees, teacher pin money, Forensics, spelling bee, safety patrol, bus fees for field trips, computers, iPads, carpeting, gym floor resurfacing, books, musical instruments, school assemblies, and building and environmental upgrades.
If you have an idea of how Home & School can further benefit St. Dennis School, its students, teachers and/or families, please submit your proposal to the Home & School Grant Coordinator.
Our school runs on volunteers. The extra hours put in by parents and teachers make St. Dennis School our school. When you volunteer, you don’t just give back. You give to yourself—and your child. Become an active part of your child’s formative years by helping to make a difference at our school. Interested in volunteering? Please contact [email protected].
