Athletics gives our 5th through 8th grade students the opportunity to learn and work together as a team outside of the classroom. St. Dennis competes in the Madison Independent Sports League (MAISL). While competition is part of athletics, cooperation is our focus. At the end of each season, one player on each team is given the Father Schmidt Sportsmanship Award, keeping our focus on being a good teammate over athletic ability.
Prior to each season, the Athletic Director will send an email to eligible students, inquiring about interest in participation. Current sports include: boys touch football and girls volleyball in the fall, boys and girls basketball in the winter and boys volleyball and girls softball in the spring. If there is enough interest, teams will be formed by grade level.
Prior to participating, students and their parents must complete the following steps:

We have several fundraisers over the course of the school year to help fund uniforms, equipment purchase and facilities maintenance. Student athletes and their parents are asked to actively participate in all fundraisers. In addition, parents are required to volunteer a minimum of 10 hours per active year during athletic events at our school. This includes working concessions, monitoring halls, setting up and tearing down.
